MTT Conducts PIT in SF on Wed

Thanks to Alex Ross of the New Yorker, I've made plans to turn to PBS Wednesday night to see Michael Tilson Thomas and the SFO prepare a Tchaikovski symphony for performance.  And Alex is right -- the accompaning web site is deepy cool.

And here's another music blog I should add to my blog roll.

I caught that program last night-unaware that the Fred0Sphere had an alert out. I think it was a non reality show because it made you REALY like the the conductor. The thing I liked was the camera following MTT off stage right after the end of the Sym no 4..he walks off stage through a couple of halls into a nicely appointed office/studio complete with grand piano and cool furniture-Not enough camera time on the furniture though....

I hate you, abyoung. Well, nothing new there, but now I have a legitimate reason: you found the broadcast effortlessly, but I could not. I checked Detroit Public Television but they weren't showing it, not at 8pm. I missed the stupid thing.

The good news is, they will show it 3pm this Sunday. Perhaps, if I manage to catch it then, I will graciously grant you my pardon.

(For those of you who don't know, abyoung is my very good friend. Check out his webpage on my blog roll, at Woodward Woodworks (under Ann Arbor & Ypsilanti.)

I get PBS on Comcast from Detroit 6, Toledo 12 and the UofM 24. (I think those are the channels) But I don't remember which one I was watching. I assume it should have been on all three. Then again as I recall the University of Michigan has an aversion to classical music. There was some spoken word in this program so maybe they considered this a "Talk" Program
